Until 1985, this place has been an active steel mill which produced raw iron for nearby steel productions sites. It was closed and meant to be torn down in 1985. When the citizens of Duisburg intervened, the site and its various buildings were kept intact and reused for cultural and recreational purposes. It has become a go-to photo location for me which offers a plethora of photo opportunities. Despite looking derelict and quite lost-place like, this place never gets old.
After a long hiatus I returned to what once was one of my favourite photo locations, the former steel mill that now is the Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord. To keep things fresh, I decided to go there at a time of day I have never been there before: The early morning hours of dawn.
This post contains a series of photographs from the Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord in Germany.
This post features some thoughts on how lenses influence the way we look for images and subjects along with 20 new photographs from the LaPaDu.
