Leave behind the old, bring up the new…

I have decided to reorganize and extend the galleries on this website. Over the years I have taken, processed and polished hundreds of animal portraits and posted them on photo sharing sites like FlickR. For various reasons (about which I might write another blog post soon) I am not happy about the situation there anymore. Basically it is (among other things) that my best work is presented there along experiments and earlier work that just doesn’t live up to the standard I am evaluating my work by today. So, over the next month or two I’ll be selecting my best work and present it here. The galleries will be divided into genres and sub-categories. For my animal shots, I will give up the old separation of black&white and color shots. Instead, I will organize the galleries by species. Check it out and let me know what you think about it.

The chimps are here

So, recently I have put up a gallery of Orang Utan portraits with quite old and brand new shots. Today’s upload focuses on another ape, the chimpanzee. The gallery is still quite small but I hope to be able to add to it throughout 2015. But even today it contains an award-winning headshot portrait.

Other new galleries

I plan to add another gallery with elephant photos and extent the existing gallery of lion portraits beyond its current scope of 2015. I might collect the shots of “Stepping Down” series which shows (mostly) endangered species in a state of defeat or stepping out of the limelight.
